If you’re an Australian permanent resident looking to renew your travel facility, applying for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) online is the fastest and easiest way.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the entire application process, from logging into your ImmiAccount to submitting your documents.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
Before applying, make sure you qualify for an RRV:
✅ 5-Year RRV (Subclass 155) – You’ve lived in Australia for at least 2 years in the last 5 years as a PR.
✅ 1-Year RRV (Subclass 155) – If you don’t meet the residency requirement, you must prove substantial ties to Australia.
✅ Subclass 157 RRV – Granted only in exceptional cases with compelling reasons for not meeting the requirements.

Step 2: Create or Log In to Your ImmiAccount
1️⃣ Go to the Department of Home Affairs website.
2️⃣ Click “ImmiAccount” and log in or create an account.
3️⃣ Select “New Application” and choose “Resident Return Visa (RRV) – Subclass 155/157”.
Step 3: Complete the Online Application
You’ll need to provide:
📌 Personal Details – Name, date of birth, passport details.
📌 Travel History – Details of your time in and out of Australia.
📌 Substantial Ties (if applicable) – If you haven’t met the residency requirement, you must upload documents proving business, employment, cultural, or personal ties.
Step 4: Attach Supporting Documents
📎 Passport – A clear scanned copy.
📎 Proof of Residency – Visa grant letter, utility bills, rental agreements, or tax records.

💰 As of 2025, the RRV application fee is:
- $465 AUD for an online application
- $635 AUD for a paper application

Step 6: Submit & Track Your Application
